FAQ

Resume builder questions, answered without the marketing voice

Everything below is a straight answer, including the parts that are not flattering. If a question is not here, the short version is: no account, $3 once for downloads, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

In short

  • No account, no email and no password, at any point.
  • Free to build, edit and preview. $3 once, only to download.
  • Your resume is stored in your browser and is never uploaded.
  • PDF exports as real selectable text, and Word exports as a genuine editable .docx.
  • No AI writes, rewrites or scores anything.

Cost and accounts

Do I really not need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no email required to build, edit or preview. Open the builder and start typing.

What does it cost?

Building, editing and previewing are free and unlimited. You can see the finished document before you decide. Downloading costs $3, paid once. That unlocks unlimited PDF and Word downloads of every resume you make, forever. There is no subscription, no renewal and no per-download charge.

Is $3 a one-off, or does it repeat?

A one-off. There is nothing to cancel because there is nothing recurring. Come back in two years, change a job title and download again at no extra cost.

Can I edit my resume after paying?

As many times as you like. Editing was never the limited part. Rewrite it, switch templates, change the colours and re-download as often as you want.

Files and formats

Can I export to Word as well as PDF?

Yes. The PDF is the pixel-accurate version you see in the preview. The .docx is a clean, single-column version of the same content, so recruiters and agencies who insist on Word get something properly editable rather than a converted image.

Is the PDF text-based or an image?

Text-based. The document is typeset directly into PDF drawing operators using the standard PDF fonts, so the file is a few kilobytes, the text is selectable and searchable, and contact links are clickable. No part of it is rasterised.

Can I use A4 and US Letter?

Both, switchable in the Design tab. The page box is written into the PDF exactly, so it prints correctly on either paper size.

Can I import a resume I already have?

Yes. Upload a PDF, a Word .docx or a plain text file and the fields are filled in for you. The file is read entirely in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Parsing follows the conventions resumes normally use rather than a model, so treat the result as a strong first draft and check every field; Ctrl+Z undoes the whole import.

Privacy and storage

Where is my resume stored?

In your browser, using local storage on the device you are using. It is never uploaded. Clearing your browser data removes it, so use Export to keep a JSON backup.

Does it write my resume for me with AI?

No. There is no AI anywhere in this tool and nothing you type is sent to a model. It is a typesetting tool: you supply the words, it makes them look right.

Can I move my resume to another device?

Use Export to download a JSON file, then Import it in the browser on your other device. That file holds all your content and design settings.

ATS and parsing

Will it pass an applicant tracking system?

No tool can promise that, because every system parses differently. What this one does is avoid the usual causes of failure: text stored as an image, invented fonts, decorative columns that scramble reading order, and contact details buried in headers. The Minimal template is the most conservative.

Once you are using it

What happens if I clear my browser data?

The resume goes with it, because that is where it lives and there is no copy on a server. Use Export to save a JSON file if you want a backup, and Import to bring it back. The download unlock is stored the same way, so keeping that JSON alongside a downloaded PDF is the sensible habit.

Do I have to pay again on a different device or browser?

The unlock is held in the browser you paid in, so a different browser will not know about it. On the machine you paid from, the "I have paid, check now" button on the payment step restores it. Keep the receipt Razorpay emails you: it carries the payment id, and replying to it reaches the person who runs this.

Is there a refund if the file is not what I expected?

The whole document is visible before you pay, including a full-screen preview, which is deliberate: you should never be buying something you have not seen. If the file you download is genuinely not what the preview showed, that is a fault, and replying to the Razorpay receipt gets it refunded.

Is there a watermark on the downloaded resume?

No. The full-screen preview is watermarked, because that is the version you can see before paying, but the PDF and Word files you download carry no watermark, no page limit and no branding of any kind. Nothing on your resume advertises the tool that made it.

Is this a CV maker as well as a resume builder?

Yes, with one caveat about the word. Outside North America, "CV" and "resume" usually mean the same one or two page document, and this builds that. An academic curriculum vitae, the long form listing publications, teaching and grants, is a different document: you can write one here using the Academic template, but there is no dedicated publications section, so it fits a short academic CV better than a full one.

What resume format should I use?

Reverse chronological, most recent role first, in a single column. It is what recruiters read fastest and what tracking systems parse most reliably, and it is what all six templates produce. One page is the target for most people, two is fine once you have around ten years of relevant history, and the design controls exist so you can fit a page without shrinking the type to something nobody will read.

Who is behind this?

One developer, no company behind it and no investors expecting a subscription business. That is the reason the product is shaped the way it is: a single small payment for a download, and no account system to maintain or monetise.

Is my resume used to train an AI model?

No, and it could not be. Your resume never leaves your browser, so there is nothing to collect. There is no model anywhere in the product, not for writing, not for scoring and not for parsing an uploaded file.

More detail

The ATS checker page lists every scoring rule and its weight. Resume templates covers which of the six to pick, and pricing sets out exactly what the payment includes and what it does not.

Build it now, decide later

The editor opens with no sign-up screen. Write the whole thing, run the ATS check and see the finished PDF before you spend anything.
